Meet The Tennis Staff
Chris Stevens is in his ninth year as the Director of Tennis at Wentworth by the Sea Country Club. He oversees all aspects of the tennis department including instruction and programming.
Chris is also the President on the USPTA New England Board of Officers and has hosted the USPTA Winter Conference for five years at Wentworth. Chris was the Head Men's/Women's Tennis Coach at Merrimack College for eight years leading his teams to five NCAA tournaments. His warrior responsibilities included recruiting and coaching.
Stevens served as the Director of Tennis at Cedardale Athletic Club in Haverhill, MA from 2000-2004. There he was responsible for managing and training a staff of seven teaching professionals. He also directed a junior program of 250 students from the ages of 4 to 18, developing playing and instructional programs. He organized USTA tournaments and club championships while also coaching four women's league teams and a men's team.
Prior to Cedardale, Stevens served as the director of tennis at Ipswich Country Club (Ipswich, MA), Brodie Racquet Club (Williamstown, MA) and Albany Country Club (Albany, NY). He has also held positions as a head/assistant professional at Cedardale, Albany and Hideaway Beach Club (Marco Island, FL).
A 1993 graduate of Springfield College, Stevens was captain of the Springfield mens tennis team when it claimed the 1992 Northeast-10 Conference Championship.
Kevin Christian, our Head Tennis Pro and Junior Coordinator, is in his seventh year at Wentworth By The Sea Country Club. He coordinates all aspects of the junior tennis program, coaches several women's USTA traveling teams and handles many administrative duties for the department.
Kevin was a varsity player at the University of Lowell, and has held rankings at the local, state and sectional levels. Additionally he holds a United States Professional Teaching Association (USPTA) Professional 1 certification. Kevin has been teaching, playing and loving tennis for over 20 years during which he has coached individuals of all ages, from beginner to nationally ranked players, from 3 years old to 92 years old.
Prior to being at Wentworth, Kevin has been a tennis professional at a number of well known and prestigious clubs in southern New England including Hampshire Hills, Cedardale Athletic Club, Executive Sports and Health, The Country Club, The Adirondack Club (Tennis Diector) and Glenn Ellen Country Club (Tennis Director).
Norm, a certified USPTA pro comes to us after teaching for numerous years at local clubs like Great Bay and Smart Tennis. He is also the Head Girl's Tennis Coach at York High School in York, Maine. Norm will be part-time helping Chris and Kevin with juniors, women's USTA teams and teaching his own classes such as cardio classes doubles tips and stroke of the week.
